Academic Information

First Time College students are students who have not yet graduated from high school. Or, students who have graduated from high school but have not taken any upper-level courses at the community college or university. Students who have earned their HiSET diploma and not yet taken any college classes are First Time College Students too.
Transfer students are students who have graduated high school and taken, or attempted, college-level courses after high school. Students who have only taken college classes through dual enrollment while in high school are not considered transfer students.
Graduate Students have completed or will soon complete a bachelor's degree and are considering UMKC Master's, Doctoral, Professional or Certificate programs.

As a transfer or adult learner, we recommend you attend our Transfer & Adult Learner Discover UMKC. This event is more specific to those types of students. You can find the date for this event and other specific visit options on our Center for Transfer Student and Adult Learners website.
